Champions League: Rio Ferdinand calls Simeone ‘lunatic’ as RB Leipzig eliminate Atletico Madrid

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has described Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone as a ‘lunatic’ whose animated behaviour on the touchline reflects the emotions of the game.

According to Ferdinand, Simeone is a fantastic manager, adding that he is a huge competitor.

Simeone saw his team eliminated from the Champions League last-8 final tie against RB Leipzig on Thursday night.

“He’s a lunatic!” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“You can watch him on his own; he’s like a soap opera on his own.

“You can stand there and watch him and he will talk you through the emotions just by watching him.

“He is such a huge competitor, a bit like when he played, but his team reflects his personality and that is the sign of a fantastic manager.”
