In line with efforts aimed at curtailing the severe effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, the Nigerian Youth Congress, Nasarawa State Chapter, is partnering with the Nasarawa State government through the Ministry of Health.
Chairman of the NYC, RT Hon. Shuaibu Sani, led other state executive members of the youth group to the office of the state commissioner for Health, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, on Thursday, in Lafia, where he said the group visited the ministry to partner with it in awareness creation and rigorous mobilization to curtail the spread of the virus at the grassroots level of the state.
While thanking the Nasarawa State government for the measures put in place to safeguard the lives of her citizens and mitigate their plights through various palliative programmes, Shuaibu Sani expressed gratitude to the various frontline healthcare workers for risking their lives through relentless efforts in tackling the deadly pandemic.
He stated that the NYC, in line with its aspirations, decided to partner with the government through the health ministry in the fight against COVID-19 in order to protect the citizens of the State.
Reacting, the Nasarawa State commissioner for Health, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, thanked the NYC for taking it upon themselves to support the government in the fight against the coronavirus that has affected a number of people and claimed some lives in the State.
He revealed that government alone cannot tackle the current global realities, hence, his ministry was happy to partner with the group to tackle the pandemic and other health-related challenges in the State, pledging to provide a level-playing ground for a seamless partnership with the organization.
The Commissioner called on other well-meaning groups and corporate organizations in the state to follow the example of the NYC and contribute their quota to the total eradication of this ugly pandemic.
