NSCDC arrests 5 illegal miners in Oyo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State command, on Tuesday, said it has arrested no fewer than five (5) illegal miners with truck loaded with precious stones in Iseyin area of the state.

NSCDC Commandant in the state, Iskilu Akinsanya, disclosed this while parading the suspects at the command Headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, the state capital.

Akinsanya said that the command discovered the operation of the illegal miners at about 4pm on Monday as a result of intelligence gathering, and immediately dispatched his men.

“We discovered that some of the companies were mining without licence and this is against the law of the land.

“Investigation still continues and they will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed,” Akinsanya said.

He called on Nigerians to always participate in legal business and obtain necessary documents and government permit before engaging in any business.
