A Tongan man is reportedly shot during Thursday’s Auckland CBD shooting which killed two and injured others.
A source claimed Sione Havea was shot at the scene and was rushed to hospital.
A photo of Havea was shared on Facebook showing what appeared to be him lying in a bed in the hospital.
Kaniva News was unable to independently verify the report.
Meanwhile, Police have released the names of the two men shot and killed during the shooting.
They are Solomona Tootoo, 45, of Manurewa and Tupuga Sipiliano, 44, of Wattle Downs, Detective Superintendent Ross McKay said this morning.
McKay said: “Formal identification processes have been completed for the two victims of Thursday’s shooting in Auckland, and police can now name them.
“Police extend sincere condolences to the families, who are grieving the loss of their loved ones.”
On Thursday, three men were killed, including the gunman, following a shooting at the construction site of the One Queen St building at around 7.20am. Several people, including a police officer, remain in hospital undergoing treatment following the incident.
Investigations are ongoing at the scene in Downtown Auckland as forensic teams continue their scene examination over the weekend.
Police are also investigating how the gunman, Matu Reid, was able to access a pump action shotgun used in the shooting.
The 24-year-old had been sentenced to home detention in March after strangling a woman, fracturing her neck. He had an exemption to work at the construction site.
Police appealed yesterday for any photos or videos of the incident to assist in their investigation.
“Any workers or affected people following Thursday’s events who need support, who have not yet reached out, are encouraged to contact police to be put in touch with services like Victim Support,” McKay said.
“If you did witness the incident and haven’t spoken to us yet, or if you have any information which you think may be relevant, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
On Thursday, an eyewitness described the moment his team barricaded themselves in a room and took shelter from the gunman.
“We saw him, and everyone just scattered, trying to find places to hide,” Nick said.
“We ran to the back of the building, where I saw a bloody hard hat. We could see the guy walking around with his gun.
“Everyone from our team is happy to be out, no one from our team is hurt.”
Naveen Kumar was doing traffic management outside the building and described seeing a rush of people escaping the building.
He said around 20 people were running from the building and they said a man had a shotgun. “He was aiming at people,” Kumar said.
