Seven days left until Grade 1&8 Gauteng online applications close

Parents and guardians have only seven days left to make their online applications for placement in Gauteng schools for Grade 1 & 8 for the 2023 academic year.

GAUTENG ONLINE APPLICATIONS CLOSING SOON

The Gauteng Department of Education has revealed that over 600 000 applications have been recorded so far and the number is expected to increase.

As previously reported, the Gauteng Department of Education said it has reviewed the online system, as well as the previous two-phased approach.

The department said after an analysis of various online parent surveys and stakeholder consultations, the system has now been enhanced to follow a single application process. This will allow all applicants to apply at the same time during the application period.

Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi said that the online system had proven to have functioned seamlessly with minimal challenges as a large number of parents and guardians had been able to apply without any major difficulties unlike in previous years.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN APPLY:

To apply, parents and guardians should visit: www.gdeadmissions.gov.za and they will receive SMS notifications of placements offers to either accept or decline from 3 – 31 October 2022.

There are also decentralised walk-in centres in parts of Gauteng where parents can be assisted with their applications.

The department further advised parents and guardians who require assistance with the application process to contact their call centre on 0800 000 789 or WhatsApp them on 060 891 0361.
