Zungu to Mamelodi Sundowns deal close? Rhulani’s role revealed

Bongani Zungu‘s potential return to Mamelodi Sundowns is reported to be close as the two parties continue to engage in negotiations.

The Duduza-born midfielder has been without a club since his departure from French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC at the end of last season.

Zungu had been linked with a number of PSL clubs, including Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs since he became a free agent.

However, a possible move to Naturena seems dead and buried after coach Arthur Zwane confirmed that Chiefs were never interested in Zungu.

Now, according to a source known to FarPost, Zungu is edging closer to putting pen to paper with Sundowns, and this after his agent held talks with co-coach Rhulani Mokwena.

Mokwena’s relationship with Zungu goes beyond that of a footballer and player, and that could be key in the former Bafana Bafana international sealing his return to Sundowns.

However, should both Sundowns and Zungu agree terms, the lanky midfielder understands that it is not going to be easy for him to walk straight into the starting line-up.

And that’s because of the number of quality central midfielders Sundowns currently have in Andile Jali and Teboho Mokoena among others.
