British filmmaker Adam Morse once hid his blindness‚ now hes a trailblazer in the industry. His work on “See“‚ “Lucid“‚ and a Super Bowl ad showcases how disability doesnt limit creativity

Adam Morse‚ a British filmmaker and actor whos blind‚ is changing how Hollywood sees disability. Once keeping his condition secret he now wants to inspire others with disabilities in the film industry.

Morse lost most of his sight about 15 years ago at 19 due to Lebers hereditary optic neuropathy (a mitochondrial disease). Despite this heʼs achieved notable success – starring in the TV series “See“ directing the feature film “Lucid“ and creating a Super Bowl ad for a Google phone feature.

His journey wasnt easy. Morse used to hide his blindness fearing rejection when pitching projects. However‚ he now believes its crucial to be open: “The more that I can blaze a trail for others the next generation of artists ... who are living with disabilities or blindness that want to be in the film industry ... it gives them permission to say‚ ʼHey well dont question whether its possible or not because look at this guyʼ“

When making “Lucid“ few people knew about Morses condition. Billy Zane‚ one of the actors‚ encouraged him to be honest about his blindness. Morse explains that his working methods only slightly differ from other directors: he uses a larger monitor to maximize his partial peripheral vision.

Now that Iʼm finally ... open about how I work ... I can invite cameras to follow that process really closely in making my next feature film

The behind-the-scenes video of Morse directing the Super Bowl ad – which follows a blind man through relationship milestones – had a significant impact. It showcased how disability doesnt limit creativity and inspired many in the industry

Morse hopes his success will pave the way for future generations of artists with disabilities. By being open about his condition‚ heʼs not just making films; hes changing perceptions and breaking barriers in Hollywood
