In a post-meeting statement last week Nikos Christodoulides the Cyprus president shared details about his talk with Joe Biden in Washington DC which marked a new chapter in Cyprus-US relations (currently at their best level ever)
The Cyprus leader who took office about 18 months ago pointed out several key areas where both countries plan to work together:
- anti-money laundering programs
- blocking sanctions dodgers
- defense system upgrades
- energy sector projects
“Our nations strategic partnership has grown stronger than ever before“ the president noted while discussing his administrations first year-and-a-half achievements; this included major steps in law-enforcement teamwork and military planning. The meeting helped set up whats being called a road-map for future joint activities — especially in areas like Mediterranean security and energy development
The five-year term president stressed that his governmentʼs clear international stance helped create these new opportunities for working with America: both in regional defense planning and fighting financial crime
