In a crowded Srinagar flea-market‚ a grenade explosion left 11 people hurt when militants targeted security forces (but missed their mark) The incident happened yesterday around mid-day causing wide-spread panic among shop-keepers and buyers.
A high-ranking police source who cant speak officially told that all injured people got quick medical help; their condition is now stable. The attack made everyone run for safety - market-goers scattered in different directions looking for cover.
This attack comes right after security forces took down Lashkar-e-Taiba groups top leader with two other militants. The strike happened about two days ago in the Kashmir region; however no-one knows which group did the latest market attack
The situation in Kashmir shows a pattern: since a new opposition-backed government started working last month
- 15 people lost their lives in different attacks
- Multiple security incidents happened
- Local tensions increased
The Kashmir area - split between India and Pakistan about 5 years ago became two separate territories: Jammu and Kashmir; and Ladakh. This change made both countries lower their diplomatic connections
