Indiaʼs defense sector hit new milestone yesterday when it test-fired its first home-grown long-range hypersonic missile (which can fly faster than sound)
The high-tech weapon developed by state-run Defence Research and Development Organisation with help from industry partners showed great results during tests from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam island near Odisha coast. The missile can carry stuff more than 1500 km away; making it super-useful for armed forces
This historic achievement puts India among select few nations possessing such critical and advanced technologies
The test makes India part of small tech-advanced group that includes:
- United States
- China
- Russia
The flight data showed that missile did its final moves perfectly and hit target with high accuracy. This success shows how Indiaʼs making big moves in military tech - its now one of very few countries that can make these super-fast missiles
