The Syrian armyʼs recent pull-back from Aleppo happened partly due to lack of ground-support (which these Iran-backed groups typically provide). The area already has some pro-Iran units in place; however they needed extra help to push back against local fighters

During the long-running Syrian conflict Iran has sent many such groups to help Bashar Assadʼs forces‚ while Russia provided air-support: this combo helped Syrian forces take back most areas. The current troop movement shows how this partnership continues to work even now

In a related development Israel has been hitting Iranian spots in Syria more often lately while also running ops in Lebanon against Hezbollah — a group thats been active around Aleppo for years. This has made the whole north-Syria situation more complex (with different groups trying to control various areas)
