Israeli forces launched a wide-ranging operation hitting several spots in Syria today: an air-defence site near Latakia port got hit in the latest strike (which adds to their growing list of targets)
The day before multiple attacks happened in Damascus where Israeli forces targeted a security-complex and a research center; sources say Iran used these spots for missile work. The strikes also hit south-western parts of Syria including Khalkhala air-base and six other places near Sweida city
These attacks come at an interesting time — Syrian rebels just pushed President Assad out of power which made Israel both hopeful and worried about whats next. Israel has been hitting Iran-connected spots in Syria for a while but since the Hamas attack about a year ago theyʼve been doing it way more often
The strikes show how Israel keeps working to limit Irans influence in the area: they hit places that could be used for making weapons or storing military stuff. Its clear that Israel wants to keep pressure on any groups that might support Hamas or other unfriendly forces in the region
