South Korea is really worried about North Korean soldiers helping Russia. On 10/18/24 Yoon Suk Yeol (South Koreas president) had a quick meeting with important people who know about spies‚ the army and keeping the country safe. They talked about North Korean soldiers fighting in Russias war with Ukraine
The people at the meeting think its a big problem that Russia and North Korea are now such good friends. Its not just about giving each other guns anymore; now theyre sending soldiers to help. They said this is bad for South Korea and everyone else in the world
South Korean officials think some North Korean people are probably in Russia and helping with the war but they dont know exactly how many or what theyre doing. Volodymyr Zelenskiy (Ukraines president) said North Korea sent some officers to Russia and is getting ready to send thousands more soldiers to help. But Mark Rutte from NATO said they havent seen any proof of this yet
Last year North Korea and Russia had a big meeting in the east part of Russia. After that they became much better friends. In June they signed a paper saying theyd help each other if theres a war. South Korea and America say North Korea has been giving Russia missiles and other weapons but both Russia and North Korea say thats not true
South Korea says it will do everything it can to deal with this problem. They think its really serious that North Korea is sending soldiers to help Russia fight Ukraine
