Ukraine's top official shares next-gen military tech plans that nobody expected

Ukraineʼs tech minister reveals plans for thousands of robotic vehicles and smart-drones in military operations. The country moves forward with AI-powered solutions and long-range capabilities in its defense strategy

Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov wants to bring next-gen tech to Ukraines battlefields. His plan includes getting thousands of un-manned ground robots for moving stuff to soldiers and helping injured ones get out of danger-zones

The tech-focused minister points out that these buggy-like machines (which are already working in some areas including Kursk) will keep soldiers away from spots where enemy fire is heavy. “We got a few thousand platforms this year and next year weʼll need way more“ he explains

Long-range drones are becoming a big deal in Ukraines defense setup: their production went up many times since last year. The country aims to make 30k deep-strike drones next year; some can fly up to 1800km. Russia uses lots of decoy-drones to wear down defenses but Ukraine has started doing the same - sometimes launching more than Russia in one night

AI is changing how things work on the field:

  • Ten companies make AI products for military use
  • Special systems help drones work without pilots in areas with signal blocking
  • Testing of anti-Shahed drones is happening
  • First drone swarms might appear next year

The country bought 16 million drones this year and got most of them already - including many first-person view ones. Fedorov says they keep changing how they launch and connect drones cause Russia tries to find and hit launch spots
