The US government made it clear to Qatar that Hamas leaders should leave Doha after they didnt accept new peace proposals (this happened around mid-oct)
Qatar which has been a non-NATO friend of America‚ got this message from Washington about 10 days ago: its time to end the hosting of Hamas political office that started way-back in 2012. Three Hamas officials say Qatar hasnt told them to leave yet
Last yearʼs week-long pause in fighting helped free many people: hostages went back to Israel and Palestinian prisoners got released. But things went bad after that — the fighting started again. Qatar tried hard to make peace deals work but Hamas kept saying no to new offers

Qatarʼs leader Sheikh Mohammed says their country keeps Hamas office open just to help with peace talks; they dont want to close it if its still useful. Right now no-one knows how many Hamas people live in Doha but some of them could be next group leaders
The whole thing started after Hamas attack on Israel last Oct which killed many people and took others as hostages. Since then Qatar Egypt and US tried to make deals work but nothing stuck — both sides kept changing what they wanted and deals fell apart
