Body found in burnt-out vehicle

Toronto police continue to investigate after a body was found in a burning vehicle in Bluffer’s Park.

According to Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook, police were called at 12:25 p.m. Sunday to Bluffers Park for reports of a pickup truck on fire in the parking lot of the popular Scarborough attraction.

Officers and fire crews responded after a homeowner nearby spotted smoke in the area of the bluffs.

“Toronto fire was already on scene and advised police that there may have been a body in the car,” said Douglas-Cook.

“We went and confirmed that.”

Douglas-Cook says the matter is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing.

She had no information as to whether the dead person was male or female.

An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.

“It was an unusual call. Time will tell what happened,” said Douglas-Cook.
