Charge against Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews dismissed

The charge of disorderly conduct against Auston Matthews has been dismissed.

Court filings in Scottsdale show the charge was dismissed on Wednesday, after Matthews and the female security guard who filed a complaint against the Maple Leafs star reached a settlement.

Matthews had been charged after an alleged incident in May in which the security guard, Fayola Dozithee, claimed that Matthews, with some male friends, tried to get into her car as she was sitting in it doing paperwork at 2 a.m.

When Dozithee confronted Matthews and his group, Matthews allegedly pulled down his pants and grabbed his buttocks as he walked toward his condo building.

The charge came to light in September, and there was some embarrassment for the Leafs as Matthews had not told the team of his legal issues.

Matthews apologized once the charge became public.
