Emergency helicopters responding to bus crash on Hwy. 401 near Brockville

Emergency crews are responding to the site of a bus crash on Hwy. 401 near Brockville.

One emergency helicopter was dispatched from Ottawa to the scene, and is currently returning to a local trauma centre in the city with a patient inside, Ornge spokesperson James MacDonald said.

A second helicopter, from Toronto, is also en route, he said.

The extent of passengers’ injuries is unknown at this time.

The incident occurred near Blue Church Rd. and Hwy. 401, near Prescott, Ont., about 15 kilometres east of Brockville. Westbound lanes of Highway 401 have been closed west of Prescott, between Edward St. and Maitland Rd.

Ontario Provincial Police say Highway 401 west of Prescott, Ont., has been closed due to a collision.
