The Sûreté du Québec announced on Thursday that its major crimes squad had arrested a 35-year-old Gatineau man in connection with a series of sexual offences allegedly committed in several regions of Quebec, including the Montérégie, Eastern Townships and Quebec City.
Simon Langlois-Gauthier was arrested July 16. Police allege he lured teenagers online using the handle “Samy Batilie 17 ans” and engaged in conversations of a sexual nature.
A raid on the suspect’s home was conducted and computer equipment seized.
Langlois-Gauthier appeared in court in Gatineau to face several charges including online luring and possession of child pornography.
