Two people were treated in hospital after a cooking fire Sunday morning on Springland Drive near Mooney’s Bay.
Firefighters were called to the apartment at 740 Springland just after 9 a.m. and could see the smoke as soon as they approached. After an “aggressive attack” they were able to bring the fire under control in less than 10 minutes and limit the smoke seeping into other areas of the building.
The two people who lived in the apartment have been forced out by the smoke and fire damage and are being assisted by the Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
A fire investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire.
