Motorist dies in St-Placide after falling asleep at the wheel

A man in his 30s lost his life in St-Placide in the Laurentians on Sunday presumably after falling asleep at the wheel.

Emergency responders declared the 35-year-old man from St-André-d’Argenteuil dead at the scene.

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Claude Denis said the vehicle’s engine was cold, which meant the accident occurred several hours before the vehicle was discovered.

The location where the vehicle was found is not easily detectable, Denis added.

Police believe the driver fell asleep while driving on a curve and went straight into a field.

An investigator was dispatched to the scene.
