Police seek dashcam video in Marpole shooting

A 54-year-old driver was shot in a parked vehicle on Southwest Marine Drive and Yew Street on April 8. He remains in critical condition.

The Vancouver Police is asking people with information or dash cam footage of a shooting in Marpole to contact investigators.

Vancouver police is asking people who may have inadvertently captured footage near a targeted shooting in Marpole earlier this month to come forward.

Police are specifically looking for dashcam footage from cars in the area where a 54-year-old driver of a vehicle parked on Southwest Marine Drive and Yew Street was shot just after 8:30 p.m. on April 8.

“Even if you were not in the area, but your car was parked there … please call our investigators and provide your dashcam footage as there could be critical information in that footage,” said police Const. Tania Visintin at a news conference Tuesday.

After being shot, the driver drove the vehicle to 70th Avenue and Marine Drive where he approached a bystander to call 911. He was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing; no arrests have been made.

Visintin said the shooting was targeted, and the victim was known to police. There is no risk to the public.

Anyone with dashcam footage driving on Marine Drive between Macdonald and Arbutus streets between 8 and 9 p.m. on April 8 is asked to call investigators at 604-717-2541.
