Air ambulance called serious crash on A9 as road closed

The road from A9 Aviemore to Inverness was closed and emergency services responded to a two-car collision at Newtonmore involving an ambulance.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:50 pm. His two firefighters from Newtonmore and Aviemore, the police,and the Scottish Ambulance Servicerushed to Newtonmore after a lorry and car collided.

The extent of injuries to those involved was not reported. The collision occurred on his A9/A86 overpass in Laria, just south of Newtonmore, and emergency workers arrived around 5:10 p.m. as traffic stopped in the surrounding area.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: Currently, he has two appliances on site to assist ambulance services.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use established detours. An air ambulance was reported to have landed in the area around 6pm.

Highlands and Islands Police said on Twitter.

"Emergency services are on the scene and road users are advised to avoid the area."

Traffic Scotland is stuck in traffic in both directions.

The update said: "Newtonmore's A9 is currently closed in both directions due to a road traffic accident. Motorists are , expect it to take longer than normal travel time and recommend using an alternative route at this time.Delays are expected."
