Alex Scott says he held a secret meeting with the BBC to host the Gladiator reboot. Sun can clarify.
The former Lioness met with executives yesterday morning about tackling the much-needed resurrection.
Last night, a source said:
``As a former sportswoman, she clearly understands and appreciates the physicality and demands of the show.
``Some names are mixed up, but Alex has a pending schedule and (must include) would like to do it.
``She said yesterday I had my first formal conversation with an executive and impressed everyone:
"It's right up there with her - primetime Saturday night entertainment - so I know she'll be announced later this year." I hope."
Gladiator regularly drew 14 million viewers during ITV's heyday from 1992 to 2000.
Hosted by Sun columnist Ulrika Jonsson, the show features various games such as Duel, Hang Her Tough, Powerball, and Gauntlet.
Made up gladiator names such as Wolf, Jet, Blaze, and Falcon.
The Beebe is looking to revive the cult show to increase its entertainment schedule and attract more families.
The show is set to air next spring and will be filmed in Sheffield. A new batch of Gladiators, all professional athletes, have already been cast. Produced by Hungry Bear.
This Morning's host is also said to be running, but other known names include Gaby Logan and Davina McCall.
