Award winning hotel and spa to sponsor Christmas pantomime at historic Gaiety theatre

A leading Ayrshire hotel and spa is giving its luxury backing to the Christmas panto at the Gaiety Theatre.

Sleeping Beauty, this year's festive offering at the historic Ayr venue, will be sponsored by The Gailes Hotel and Spa.

Bosses at the theatre said the family-owned four-star hotel and wedding venue was the "perfect match" for their annual spectacular.

Gaiety communications chief, Heather Murphy, said: "I wanted to find a sponsor who would complement the narratives of romance, beauty and, of course, a good night's sleep!

"It was also important that, like this year's performance, whoever we worked with had strong Ayrshire roots.

"The Gailes were the perfect match. I am delighted they have come on board."

Lisa Parker, group marketing manager at SimpsInns, added: "It seemed like a great fit. The Gailes is excited to support local arts and culture, and Sleeping Beauty was the perfect Pantomime for us to sponsor.

"We are already known as one of the top wedding locations in Ayrshire, but in the last two years we have invested almost £3m at The Gailes.

"We added Si! Spa, a stunning spa and wellness destination, as well as a fairy-tale wedding pavilion in our private gardens.

"We have also just completed the refurbishments to our wedding and banqueting suite and rooftop conservatory which is a beautiful location for wedding ceremonies.

"Perhaps we can invite this year's dame along for some much needed rest and relaxation."

The show is co-written by Fraser Boyle and Ken Alexander - the 5-star creative team responsible for Jack and Beanstalk (2019), The Scunner Who Stole Christmas (2020), and last year's smash hit, Jamie and the Unicorn (2021).

"There is so much love for The Gaiety Theatre in Ayr from the local community, and you have to keep that in mind when writing for this audience," said Fraser.

The pantomime takes place in the ancient kingdom of Ayrshire and Arran, and the local audience will recognise many references.

Whether it’s this year's baddie – Carabosse, The Bride of Maybole or the charming Prince Robbie of Troon - the performance is very much rooted in the local area.

The show runs from November 25 until December 31 with tickets on sale priced £9-£28 from 01292 288235 or at www.thegaiety.co.uk/sleepingbeauty
