Wainwright's Walk gains National Trail status
Alfred Wainwright's coast-to-coast walk winds its way through the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, forming the National Trail. will be changed to The 197-mile route starts at St. Bees in Cumbria, ends at Robin Hood's Bay, and and pass through lakes, moors, mountains, castles and lots of pubs . It first appeared in 1973 in a book by the noted wanderer and author Wainwright, and has been popular with walkers ever since, despite its unofficial status. A National Trail designation means that over £5m of public funding has been invested in the trail to make it safe, accessible and reach a wider audience.
Fossil hunters make extremely rare finds
Fossil hunters who have opened a museum in Sheffield to house their collection say they believe Britain's oldest known ichthyosaur I just learned that it contains an example of an embryo from . James Hogg, 23, has invited several dinosaur experts, including ichthyosaur authority Dean Lomax, to the launch of his one-room museum. When he told Lomax that Hogg had found a pregnant ichthyosaur fossil, Lomax examined it. "His face lit up like a kid in a candy shop," he recalls Hogg. "He found a complete embryo only inches long inside an adult body."
