14-year-old boy dies after swimming in lake during heat wave

A 14-year-old boy died last night after getting into trouble on Cheshunt Lake, Hertfordshire Police said.

Police were contacted before 5:00 pm and reported that the teenage boy was in the water but he had not resurfaced.

Officers, Fire and Rescue Service, and East England Ambulance immediately headed North off Cadmore Lane, Cheshunt to Loch Met.

Emergency services conducted a search of the area, including using police helicopters and professional police divers, but the boy's body was not found until 11:00 pm.
