Boy, 2, in critical condition after being run over by van at Ayrshire Road Horror

Last night a 2-year-old boy was hit by a van and left in critical condition in the hospital.

The infant was run over by a van near the entrance to a parking lot on Dixon's Drive inIrvine at about 8:45 p.m., police confirmed today.

A 56-year-old man was driving a Ford in his Transit van that knocked over the baby.

The young man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Children's Hospital in Glasgow, where doctors described his condition as "serious." Police were also present at the scene.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans of the Irvine Road Police Force is requesting information. he said:

"This place has a lot of traffic, and many people stopped and helped me. We are aware that anyone who was in the area immediately before the crash, or who has dashcam footage that may be of assistance in the investigation, is advised to speak to the police. Please contact 101 on 18 August at reference number 3449."
