Fifa World Cup: Results and reaction from day eigh
Brazil face Switzerland in Group G of the World Cup. The Selecao are without key forward Neymar due to an ankle injury but can book their place in the knockout stages if they beat the Swiss, following Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday.
Richarlison was the star of Brazil’s opening win after scoring a stunning overhead kick, while Brazil also have an abundance of attacking talent to come in and replace Neymar - who is expected to be out for the remainder of the group stages.
Switzerland defeated Cameroon 1-0 in their opening match thanks to Breel Embolo’s winner and would also qualify for the last 16 if they managed to shock the five-time winners Brazil.
Earlier, Serbia and Cameroon played out a thrilling 3-3 earlier in the other match of Group G, a result that was a boost to Switzerland’s chances of making it through to the knockout stages. Brazil, meanwhile, are looking to join defending champions France as the only teams to win both of their matches so far. Follow all the action with our live blog below

21 mins: Brazil are able to work some space after Switzerland pressed them high and Pacqueta can drive on from the Number 10 position. His touch is heavy though and Elvedi cuts it out on the edge of the box.

19 mins: That’s better! The ball from Pacqueta is fired across the box and almost finds RIcharlison at the front post. Elvedi is there to clear. Good play from Pacqueta though.

17 mins: Apart from that Pacqueta flick, it’s all been very quiet from Brazil, very safe. Who’s going to take the chance for them? Who’s going to take charge with Neymar injured?

15 mins: Casemiro brings down Embolo about 30 yards from goal. It’s pretty central as Xhaka stands over it, so Switzerland work it wide. But Vargas hits the first man with his cross from out side.

12 mins: Opening! Best moment of the game so far as Pacqueta flicks a sublime pass with the outside of his foot to Richarlison. It’s then cut back to Vinicius but Elvedi reads it well to clear.

11 mins: Fred’s been busy in these opening stages. He obviously brings something different to Neymar in the midfield. He tidies up on the edge of the box before Richarlison is fouled on the halfway line.

8 mins: There are lots of Brazil fans in Stadim 974 but the atmosphere feels a bit flat in these opening stages. Switzerland seem to have settled well and are beginning to knock the ball around.

5 mins: Xhaka, who was very good in Switzerland’s opener, flips a ball around the corner towards Embolo. The Swiss striker gets on his bike but Alisson races out of his box to clear. Alisson then almost gets into trouble as he passes out from the back, but Brazil are able to clear up.
