Households are warned that energy bills could exceed £5,000 next April, according to a new shock forecast.
Her Auxilione, a consultancy, said this morning that Ofgem may have to set a price cap of £5,038 per year.
The expert warned that the price cap could hit him at £4,467 in January. This means the average household will pay £571 for energy.
Auxilione's forecast is that the price cap is £2,496 higher for him than it is currently at £1,971.
Ministers will be inviting energy bosses today for crisis talks outlining their interests.
In a LinkedIn post, his Auxilione said:
"There seems to be little recognition of how impossible the task really is, and how little control energy companies and governments have over this in such a globally affected market.
