BREAKING: Motorists warned to expect delays following rush hour accident on M74 Southbound

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a three vehicle smash on the M74 Southbound.

Motorists are being told to expect long delays following the accident between Hamilton (junction 6) and Larkhall (junction 7) on Monday morning.

It is understood no one has been hurt in the collision.

Police are currently assisting rush hour traffic at the scene as heavy roadworks are currently ongoing on that stretch of road.

It is understood a lorry and two cars were involved, with the incident also causing a knock on effect to traffic on the adjacent M74 northbound.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We were called at 7.15am on Monday, October 3 to an incident involving two or three vehicles."
