Brentford wasted little time in poking fun at the expense of Manchester United after the Red Devils found themselves on the wrong end of a Manchester City derby day demolition job at the Etihad.
United were beaten 6-3 by a ruthless City side, but in truth the scoreline flatters Erik ten Hag's troops. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both scored hat-tricks to ensure Pep Guardiola's men took all three points, despite a late brace from Anthony Martial making the game seem a tad more even than it was.
Such was City's dominance, they were actually 4-0 up at the half-time stage. Boasting such a healthy lead over United at that early stage of the game is something few sides can relate to, but Brentford can.
The Bees made light work of the Red Devils themselves earlier on this season in what was just Ten Hag's second game in charge, beating them 4-0. Thomas Frank's men put all four goals past United in the opening 45 minutes, something that had only happened once prior since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure from the club in 2013.
Taking to Twitter to taunt the Premier League giants, Brentford's social media team made the obvious comparison linking their own victory to City's incredible first-half effort. The Bees have 280,000 followers on the social media platform and remarkably, the tweet had 251,000 likes by 10pm on Sunday evening.
Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee, and Bryan Mbeumo were the four Brentford stars to write their name into the club's history books in August, while Haaland and Foden are already City superstars in their own right even before their respective trebles against their local rivals.

Whatever Ten Hag said to his players at half-time appeared to inspire a slight improvement, given they netted three goals in the second-half. Summer signing Antony netted a screamer to make it 4-1, before Martial got his first two goals of the season after Haaland and Foden's goals had effectively sealed the win for City.
The defeat sees United drop to sixth having been leapfrogged by Chelsea, with the Red Devils now sitting two points outside the top four behind Graham Potter's Blues and Brighton who occupy fourth spot.
The target for Ten Hag's side this term is undeniably to qualify for the Champions League, but it is difficult to determine just how good this United side are with their form so patchy this season having registered 4 wins and 3 losses from their first seven games.
City will get the better of most teams over the course of the campaign, but United's defence will have to put in a better showing than they did on Sunday if top four is the goal.
