Cadets from Lanarkshire thanked for efforts in helping out veterans' charity

Army cadets from Lanarkshire have been thanked for their hard work in raising thousands of pounds for Erskine.

The young people of 1 and 3 Platoons (RSB) - Strathaven & Newmains Army Cadets - raised over £3000 for Scotland largest veterans’ charity.

The young cadets, pictured, had a busy summer as they undertook a number of fundraising events.

They attended the Strathaven Balloon Festival where they had a large bouncy castle and donations received from parents of youngsters “wanting a wee shot” on their inflatable soon mounted up.

Not content with that, the cadets then completed a sponsored walk around Strathclyde Park raising a hugely impressive sum which brought the final total to £3270.

Jim Watret, community fundraiser, told Lanarkshire Live: “Our residents were delighted to hear that the young people had raised such a large amount and would like to thank each and every one of the cadets who took part in the events”.
