Devastation as much loved Ayrshire doctor passes away

Tributes have been paid to a much-loved Ayrshire doctor following his death.

Dr Antonio Kondol was a senior partner at Loudoun Medical Practice in Darvel.

The GP surgery on Lochore Terrace confirmed that Dr Kondol died on Thursday night.

The experienced medic spent 40 years at the practice before becoming ill in March this year and retiring in June.

A Facebook post from Loudoun Medical Practice on Friday lead tributes: "We are absolutely devastated to confirm the death of our much loved recently retired senior partner Dr Antoni Kondol.

"He died peacefully at home last night with family at his side. Dr Kondol worked in our practice for over 40 years and dedicated his life’s work to caring for the residents of the Irvine Valley.

"He has been sorely missed in the practice since he became ill in March then retired in June.

"All of our love and thoughts are with his much-loved children Amy, Ben, Leon, Rebecca and Rhoda and his grandchildren he adored."

Dozens of tributes have been paid to Dr Kondol following the announcement of his passing.

One person said: "One of the best doctors i have came across. Always took the time. Sad news thoughts are with the family and staff at Loudoun Medical Group."

Another said: "So very sorry to hear this sad news. Dr Kondol was an absolute gem of a man.

"Always had a smile and a kind word when you needed it most. He will be missed. Condolences to his family and former colleagues."

One mourner added: "That is devastating - he was an amazing Dr and always listened, really listened and made me feel heard unlike many Drs nowadays."
