Dina Asher-Smith stands up as British sprinting 'curse of cramps' strikes again

Dina Asher-Smith's curse of injuries strikes again as she gives up her European Sprint crown without reaching the finish line.

A hamstring injury forced Britain's fastest woman to miss the Commonwealth Games where she held poster girl status.

And three weeks is not enough to restore her strength, as she suffered an early injury in her 100m final, which was won by home favorite Gina Luckenkemper. It turns out.

The Kent star said: I had cramps in my calves. You can't run with two cramped calves. I need to find out how to hydrate.

"I feel good, I'm in good shape, so I'm frustrated. No tears, no damage. But I've had cramps in both my calves and I've been running the whole race and I'm probably going to tear them."

When Asher Smith limped at home, teammate Darryl Neita took the bronze medal in 11.00 seconds, ahead of German winner Luckenkemper and runner-up Mujinga Kambunji. I was disappointed to get the bronze medal just 0.01 seconds behind.

She also complained of seizures, but had a third in six weeks.

Considering two of Britain's top sprinters suffered from cramps (Zharnel Hughes in a high-profile episode over the past year) and Reece Prescod), they're not the only ones curious about why.

Their fortunes ended a disappointing night for Britain when Hughes lost the men's 100m crown in front of her 50,000 crowd at the Olympic Stadium in Munich.

For British champion Neita, it was another major final for her that fell short of her own expectations.

At the World Championships, the 25-year-old set a heat time that would have qualified her for the final, but in the final I didn't have enough. She missed the semi-finals and preliminaries.

A week or so later she was at the Commonwealth Games, where her semifinal time would have beaten the final, but the result after that was just enough for bronze.

Like Asher Smith, Lamont her Marcel Jacobs suffered an injury at Eugene. Unlike her, the Olympic champion is back in high spirits.

The shock winner of last year's Tokyo final suffered a thigh problem that caused his withdrawal in the world.

In doing so, He matched Hughes' championship record of 9.95 seconds, and 21-year-old British champion Jeremiah Azul was understandably ecstatic after taking bronze in lane 8 in 10.13 seconds. 100} Azu's joy contrasted with the heartbreak of Fincham-Dukes, who thought he had won a shock silver medal, but the 25-year-old's first jump of 8.06 m was later ruled a foul

British team leader Paula Dunn said:

"Had it been called a foul, the whole game would have been different.

"We appealed that decision, but the appeals court agreed with the stadium's decision. Referee. We did what we could."
