Disney overtook Netflix in total subscriptions.
Currently, Netflix has one million fewer subscriptions than rival Disney. While Disney+ is making good money, Netflix is losing subscribers fast.
Netflix was by far the largest streaming service. Since the advent of TV and video streaming, no other service has come close.
But Disney's third quarter results showed the streaming service overtook the giant.
Disney+ subscribers he acquired 14.4 million, the franchise now maintains a combined total of 221 million subscribers across streaming services.
This compares to his 220.67 million worldwide subscribers reported by Netlfix.
This is the first time a competitor has surpassed the streaming giant in total subscriptions.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that Netflix has fewer subscribers. If one person subscribes to two of Disney's services, it counts as two subscriptions, and the company does not disclose how many individuals have signed up for its services.

At the same time,Disney announced it would launch a new ad-supported tier at the same price Disney+ is currently offered. Customers who want to avoid advertising will need to pay more, the company said.
