Dumbarton Poets Play 300th Gig at Belladrum Festival

The Dumbarton poet plays his 300th gig at one of Scotland's biggest music festivals and receives the same bill as top acts Nile Rodgers, Emery Sande and The Fratellis .

Dumbarton FC's resident poet, Stephen Watt, performed with his colleague and friend Jason Golaup at Belladrum's Tartan Heart Festival on Saturday, July 30.

The two played their book Voodoo Daze to a Belladrum crowd. Stephen considered his 300th set to be a fitting tribute to festivals and music culture.

He said: It was my 300th gig since 2010, so it was great.

"On a night called 'Last Monday in Rio' at the Party in 2010, a small good crowd entered the tent, including Robin Kearns, who hosted my first set." I came.

“So the fact that Robin was on the bill on the same day as us really meant a lot.

"It was supposed to be a 45 minute set, but I thought it would be a little long for one guy to yell at you, so Jason I said I would play my book Voodoo Daze with me because Golauup is all about acid house and rave.

``I thought it would be perfect for a music festival. gigs and Barrowland, where they should have had a good laugh and is always encouraging.

I found it very relieving."

This was Steven's second appearance at the Bella Drum Festival following 2019. I still can't get over the fact that I was on the same bill. Like many celebrities, he said:

"At least, I wasn't in the heart attack stage.

"The good news is that you get free tickets even though you're getting paid. So we saw some big acts like Stiff Little Fingers, we also saw Nile Rodgers and they were amazing.
