Dwayne Johnson said he had to rebel in a big way after joining the DC Universe.
Johnson was cast as his DC character Black Adam. This villain will face Zachary Levi's Shazam in the upcoming movie.
Shazam had an independent film released in 2011. Black Adam was originally going to be featured in the same film, but Johnson didn't like it.
"When the first draft of the movie arrived, it was a combination of Black Adam and Shazam. One movie has two origin stories," said the actor. 17} Vanity Fair.
"That was the goal, so it wasn't a complete surprise," Johnson continued. "But when I read it, I knew by intuition that the movie could not be made this way. We would do Black Adam an incredible disservice.
"It was fine for Shazam to combine two origin stories into one movie, but it wasn't good for Black Adam."
Johnson took matters into his own hands. , headed Warner Bros. in hopes of splitting the film in two.
But it was tough, he said, because everyone liked the original script.
"I said, 'I have to share my thoughts here. It's very unpopular,'" everyone thought, so they said, "Hey, this script is great. Let's go make this movie.' I said.Make that movie yourself in the tone you want. And I think this should also be separated.
Ultimately, he succeeded in his efforts, with Black Adam set to be released later this year alongside Shazam. sequel,Wrath of the Gods.
