EastEnders’ Jack Ryder unrecognisable as he posts throwback to playing Jamie Mitchell

EASTENDERS star Jack Ryder looks unrecognisable in a new snap, 24 years after appearing on the hit soap.

The star took to social media to share a photo of himself against a brick wall while wearing a plaid jacket and black t-shirt.

Gazing at the camera, Jack snapped a selfie and told fans he’d spent the afternoon giving a masterclass for homeless people.

He wrote: “Fantastic afternoon spending time with the folks over @cardboardcitz in Whitechapel. 🎭 🎥 🎬.

“Such a wonderful team and loved sharing some important insights with its members. Great being back in east London again too! 💥”

Fans said the star looked “great” with one person writing: “I think you look great, Jack all of us get older eventually, I remember your boyish good looks when I did watch soaps.”

Another person said: “Brilliant photo jack,” while a third penned: “I still think your hot.”

It came as, just a day ago, he shared a throwback to his youth and wrote: "We’ll always have Smash Hits," with fans delighted to see the younger Jack on their social feeds.

Jack, now 41, was the floppy-fringed heartthrob who gained popularity among female fans on EastEnders as he played baby-faced Jamie Mitchell.

He dramatically left Albert Square after his character was sensationally killed off on Christmas Day 2002, when he was run over by a car driven by love rival Martin Fowler.

Last year, he stunned fans as he showed off his more mature look with shorter hair.

Jack smiled as he posed alongside his long-term partner Ella and their daughter Marnie.

He captioned the sweet family snap, writing: "My little family. #myeverything."

Jack skyrocketed to heartthrob fame after he became a soap poster-boy at 17 when he joined EastEnders in 1998.

The actor's most famous EastEnders scene was when he was killed off on Christmas Day.

The scene remains one of the most-watched moments in soap history, with over 20 million people tuning in to bid the character farewell after he was accidentally run over.

But it wasn't just his EastEnders role that put him in the public eye.

During his stint on the show he married former Hear’Say singer turned Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh in 2002.

However their romance didn't last and the pair divorced in 2009.
