EastEnders spoilers: Fans left in shock as Charlie Brooks confirms Janine exit; plus Coronation Street & Emmerdale news

EASTENDERS' Janine Butcher will leave the soap in explosive scenes at the end of this year, 18 months after she returned to Walford.

Actress Charlie Brooks has sensationally revealed to The Sun that she will be leaving the east London soap EastEnders in New Years scenes.

Charlie revealed exclusively to The Sun on Sunday: “I was only ever due back to EastEnders for a year, but when [exec producer] Chris Clenshaw presented me with his idea for the story, I couldn’t say no to staying a little longer. I’ve had an amazing time, as I always do when I go back.”

A source told The Sun, the ending storyline will be "massive" as she follows boyfriend Mick Carter, after the two characters announced Janine's pregnancy.

One fan wrote: "I'm absolutely gutted that Charlie Brooks is leaving EastEnders soon! It's been wonderful having Janine back on the show, and I do sincerely hope that this isn't the last we've seen of her! Wishing you all the best for the future Charlie!"
