A group of prison wardens from a single jail have been given the sack after it was discovered they were having sexual interactions with inmates.
In total 18 jailers were found to were fired for the hook-ups at the UK’s largest prison, HMP Berwyn, a privately-run jail in Wrexham, North Wales.
The shocking revelations came after Freedom of Information requests were placed by the Mirror after three of the women involved ended up in court for their interactions.

One of the jailers was even caught swapping racy pictures with one of the inmates and was later found to have smuggled a phone in for her lover.
Jennifer Gavan was paid £150 by robber Alex Coxon to bring her the mobile – Gavan was given eight months in the cage herself after she was tried for misconduct.
Jailer Emily Watson got involved with drug dealer John McGee who was behind bars for causing death by dangerous driving – he is serving eight years.
Meanwhile, Ayshea Gunn was involved in sending “highly sexualised” photos and videos to armed robber Khuram Razaq.
The hiring system has since been slammed by Mark Fairhurst, chair of the Prison Officers’ Association.
He said the “wrong kind of women” had been hired to fill the roles, adding: “Staff being recruited don’t have face-to-face interviews… it’s all done on Zoom.
“A lot of people getting these jobs don’t have enough life experience and are susceptible to conditioning from prisoners.
“Your figures just prove what we’ve been warning the employer about for years.”
According to stats from the Ministry of Justice, 32 female prison officers have been given the boot in England and Wales for inappropriate relations with inmates since the start of 2019.
HMP Berwyn has in the past gained a reputation as being one of the most comfortable places to be incarcerated in Britain with high-quality rooms available to lags with en-suite bathrooms and windows with no bars.
A Prison Service spokesman said: “The majority of staff are hard-working and honest but we are doing more to catch the small number who break the rules.”
