Eurovision 2023: UK cities shortlisted for Host Song Contest announced

The UK cities vying to host the Eurovision 2023 have been revealed.

Zoe Ball and Scott Mills announced the names of the cities on BBC Radio 2 on Friday (12 August).

“We are excited to be discussing Eurovision in August. , 20 UK cities have announced bids to host the event, but seven names have been cut.

These cities include Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds and Liverpool. , Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.

Mills said these cities were seen to have the "capacity and ability" to host events and had the "passion" to celebrate Eurovision.

These cities will proceed to the second and final phase, after which they will be asked to "explain a little more" what they will do if they win the bid.

A final decision is expected to be announced later this year. Eurovision was last held in the UK in 1997.
