Ex-hotel manager shares revolting reason she avoids using common item in room

The shampoo and conditioner in hotel rooms are best avoided, according to one hospitality expert.

The former hotel manager Melissa Hank shares her industry knowledge and advice on her TikTok channel @melly_creations. In one video, Melissa says travellers should not trust the toiletries.

She went on to explain the grim reason she avoids certain hotel items in a viral video that has been seen over two million times. Speaking of the bottles from experience, Melissa warned travellers they can't be sure "what else is in there".

"I will never use these refillable shampoo and conditioner bottles that are in the shower," she said in the video, as reported by BirminghamLive.

Melissa referenced Nair, a cream that dissolves hair: "People could put anything in them, and I've seen Nair and God knows what else in there."

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop there, Melissa went on to admit that she had even seen "bodily fluids" in "unsecured" bottles that can be easily unscrewed and tampered with.

The former hotel boss then went on to show another type of toiletry pump that is safe to use as it can be securely locked and only refilled or emptied by staff.

She said: "Now, these I will use because if you look, you have to unlock them to open them and refill."
