An extraterrestrial enthusiast is convinced he has discovered an "ancient alien statue" which has toppled over on the surface of Mars.
Scott C. Waring, who is an alien enthusiast on blog website UFO Sightings Daily, made the claims after looking at a series of photos of the red plant taken by a NASA rover.
In one image, which appears to show a mountain-like structure, there seems to be a rock sculpture which Waring believes has two eyes, a nose, a mouth and something similar to a crown on top.
He claims that the sculpture has toppled over, with one of the 'eyes' broken off as a result.
Waring took to YouTube to share his theory that aliens did live on Mars in years gone by due to the rock sculpture.

NASA/JPL-Caltech)During the video, he captured a zoomed-in version of the supposed statue and added colour to "try to separate the pieces of it that were really intriguing".
This is where the body parts can be distinguished, according to Waring.
He added: "This creature, this face, doesn't look humanoid at all. It looks, wow, reptilian maybe? It's unusual, it really is.
"It looks like an ancient sculpture. Now look at this eye, it looks off because it has fallen down and has hit this huge side of the mountain, which is made of hard material, and it's broken."
People commenting on the enthusiast's video agreed with Waring with one comparing the statue to the sculptures on Easter Island, according to Binnews.

In May, Waring made a video claiming there was "100% proof that alien life once lived on Mars" after NASA rover Curiosity captured an image of what looked like a man made doorway.
He analysed the footage from Mars and compared it to the one foot doorway to Rameses' tomb entrance in ancient Egypt for the eight-inch tall creatures.
He explained: "Mars has so much proof of ancient alien life on it. Look at these recent photos taken by the rover this week.
"Two photos show a doorway into the hillside. The entrance looks very similar to the ancient Egyptian entrances in Valley of the Kings in Egypt.

"Mars...is proof of life so early it goes beyond anything the Earth has to offer. 100% proof that ancient intelligent species once lived and thrived on Mars."
NASA's two rovers - Curiosity and Perseverance - continue to carry out research on Mars for signs of life - past or present - on the planet's surface.
