Feltham Fire: 'explosion' heard, causing large clouds of smoke to rise in the sky near Heathrow

A massive fire has broken out near Heathrow Airport, sending smoke across London.

Several residents living near the area reported hearing loud explosions. “I heard something explode,” said one person on social media. According to another report, "Me and my father heard loud noises, like bombs and explosions." of fire engines and about 70 firefighters were called in to report the fire on Hereford Road."

The Metropolitan Police are cooperating and advising the public to "avoid the area".

Historian Robert Harris saw flames from planes entering Heathrow. ``We will land at Heathrow before 5pm today. Burnt fields. They report smoke billowing into the streets.

London's fire brigade is working across the capital to extinguish blazes. Twelve fire trucks and about 80 firefighters rushed to an apartment block on Heathstan Road in Shepherd's Bush.
