A yellow tipper truck left a pile of rubbish on Greyfriars Road, near Uddingston, on Thursday afternoon.
Three people were spotted inside the truck which had travelled down Blantyre Farm Road to get to a remote area, where they believed they would not be seen.
The vehicle reversed and raised the back of the truck before rubbish contents were poured out onto the road at around 4.45pm.
But the shocking incident was caught on camera by a local wildlife photographer who watched on in horror as the scene unfolded.
They told the Record: "Whilst sat there yesterday a yellow tipper type truck squeezed past my car and I could see by the contents on the truck that it was going to be dumped.
"There were three people in the cabin, I saw them reverse and raise the back of truck up.
"I got out of my car to obtain a better photograph as this was being done, I then snapped the truck from the back as it passed to go onto the main road.
The registration plate on the truck has since revealed that the heavy goods vehicle has not passed an annual test since January 31, 2020. The annual test, or MOT, must be taken each year by HGV's.
Fly tipping on Greyfriars Road remains an ongoing problem, with council workers previously being sent out to clean up the mess.
Photographs taken in August and July captured shocking piles of building waste that had been dumped and left on the road.
While just last week on Thursday, September 22, images appeared to show South Lanarkshire Council workers being forced to clear up piles of rubbish that had been dumped.
Kevin Carr, Head of Facilities, Waste and Grounds Services at South Lanarkshire Council, said: “We haven’t been made aware of this latest incident of fly-tipping but we will look to address it as soon as possible.
