Furious Strictly fans blast ‘unfair’ treatment of Kym Marsh as she kicked off the 20th series

STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left fuming as Kym Marsh opened the series - for one huge reason.

The ex Coronation Street star, 46, was paired with Strictly professional Graziano Di Prima, 28, for the 20th instalment of the BBC programme.

Their close bond was clear as their pre-dance VT played out, with Kym whipping up an Italian meal for Graz at her family home.

Yet as she took to the dancefloor in a canary yellow number, some fans blasted her Strictly Come Dancing debut as "unfair."

This was because the pair were set to dance the jive - a typically tough routine - for their debut.

One fan took to Twitter to write: "Unfair to give a jive in Wk1 but, although that was tentative and slower than we’d like, Kym presented it well and was cleaner than usual Wk1 #Strictly."

A second put: "Jive on week one always feels a bit harsh to me. Thought Kym did well being first as well. Lots of potential once the nerves reduce a bit!"

A third then continued: "Always think a jive in the first week is unfair," as a fourth wrote: "Wow to be given Jive week one that’s really tough for anyone to get #Strictly."

One then concluded: "A great first dance from Kym and Graziano. The jive is a difficult dance."

Despite the worries, the pair pulled a score of 23 from the judges.

Kim's fellow Corrie co-star Will Mellor also performed a jive on Strictly's opening show.

The actor danced to Livin’ La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin, and he scored a total of 34 points out of a possible 40.

There will be no public vote this week, but the contestants' scores will be carried over until next week.

Yet some viewers were left less than impressed with the opening scores and leaderboard.

Fifteen celebs took to the dance floor tonight for the first episode of the series and many ended up getting high marks from Shirley BallasCraig Revel HorwoodMotsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke.

Viewers felt that while some people were over marked, others were under scored – like Fleur East – and they demanded to know what was going on.

One person tweeted: “Fleur was amazing🔥🔥 Scores didn’t do her justice!! #strictly.”

It was Will and Nancy Xu alongside Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal who topped the leader board with an impressive 34.
