Gatehouse at Fleet's Cally Gardens opens to public

Currie Gardens near Fleet Gate will open this weekend under the Scottish Gardens Scheme to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund.

The Garden and Botanical Center is a treasure trove of rare, exotic and hardy plants from around the world. Towering 18th-century ramparts, the former kitchen and pleasure garden of Cally House, provide refuge to the informal gardens created by renowned botanical collector Michael Wickenden.

Plantsman and ecologist Kevin Hughes took ownership of his 2018 collection Enlarged and working with his team to restore this important and interesting garden. Kevin's ethos of gardening without pesticides and with wildlife has significantly increased biodiversity in the garden.

The gardens are open on Sundays from 10am to 5pm. We also sell foliage plants and tea. Admission is £5, children are free, and proceeds go to the World Wide Fund for Nature and the Scottish Gardens Scheme charity.

To reach Cally, take Gatehouse of Feet, turn off A75, follow B727 and turn left at Cally Palace Hotel entrance. You can see the garden sign from here. Regular bus services stop at the end of Cally Drive upon request.
