Greenford 'Murder': 'Honor to 'Music Man' after elderly busker stabbed to death by mobility scooter

As police hunt down the perpetrator, tribute is paid to an elderly street performer who was stabbed to death while riding a scooter.

Locals nicknamed the victim "The Music Man" and regularly played the accordion to passers-by in Greenford, West London.

Police were summoned to his Cayton Road shortly after 4:00 pm on Tuesday, and a man believed to be in his 80s was reportedly stabbed.

Local residents expressed their condolences after the pensioner's tragic death.

"This guy used to sit outside a Tesco in Perivale playing music for money, and he was a nice guy," said one resident.

Another added, "That's terrible news. I saw him today. My toddler loves 'The Music Man.'"

One-third said: I loved him and his music made my day every time I left Greenford station.

Greenford resident Frasley Coutinho said he saw the victim surrounded by a group of boys.

He said,

Coutinho said CCTV cameras caught part of the incident, but he was hidden by vegetation.

"You couldn't see more because the rose plant was blocking it," he added.

Chief Sean Wilson, head of Ealing Police Superintendent: "This is understandably a terrifying incident which has caused considerable alarm among locals and people across London. Our thoughts are with the elderly victim.

"We We support our Specialist Crime colleagues in their efforts to understand what happened and to identify those responsible for this horrific crime.” Detective Chief Inspector Eastwood said:

"From 3:15pm to 4:00pm, if you were on the Western Avenue A40 heading east near Caton Road and Welland Gardens, if you have footage from your dashcam or cycle helmet,

“The elderly victim, who was riding a mobility scooter, was in the area at the time. If you catch someone harassing you, it is imperative that you contact them.”

Simran Advani, 25, a senior property manager who lives near where the stabbing occurred, said he was riding a scooter. He said he often saw an older man on board who "was always smiling."

She said. He often circled the city block and always ran on the road rather than the pavement.

``This place is very quiet. You can't hear any noise on this street. I don't hear any noise and I don't see any young people."

Another neighbor, who was reluctant to give his name, said: It doesn't get in the way.

"Sorry to his family. I'm not entirely shocked by the amount of stabbings I've heard on the news.

"People coming and going There is a playground and a school nearby.Many people park their cars here."

He said there was a bus stop nearby, but "Other than that, not many people are walking."

The deadly stabbing follows a spate of violence in the capital. A 58-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Ealing on Monday.

Police were called to a property in Boddington Gardens on Monday afternoon following reports of rioting. Aziza Benis was found with a stab wound and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Hannah Bennis, 21, was charged with murder Wednesday morning and she is due to appear in Uxbridge Magistrates Court today.

A man was stabbed to death near Oxford Street on Monday after a riot broke out near a Korean restaurant, according to eyewitnesses.

Police, paramedics and an ambulance arrived on Poland Street, but the victim was pronounced dead 40 minutes later, the Metropolitan said.
