Police issued a warning last month after several wildfires erupted in moorland near a parking lot near the nearby Saddleworth Moorreservoir .

Water levels have dropped dramatically in recent weeks at Dovestone Reservoir due to extreme heat and reduced rainfall.

According to United Utilities, a heat wave with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in parts of Greater Manchester has more than halved the capacity of reservoirs in the area.

Dovestone Reservoir is located east of Oldham, northeast of Ashton-under-Lyme, and supplies drinking water to the area.
